Mr.Dale R. Hoyt, Superintendent of Catholic Schools, announces the appointment of Sr. Kathleen M. Fitz Simons, CND as Assistant Superintendent of Catholic Schools, effective August 1, 2008.
Sister Kathleen joins the Office of Catholic Schools with thirteen years of demonstrated success in Diocesan leadership. She has also served more than ten years as an educational leader in Catholic elementary schools. In approving her appointment, Archbishop Henry J. Mansell stated that “Sr. Kathleen’s experience will strengthen the foundation for Catholic schools as they advance the mission and strategic plans for 21st century quality education”.
Sr. Kathleen will provide creative and innovative leadership for the continued development of the educational ministry of Catholic schools. She will provide oversight, direction, and guidance in the development of new school models, school advancement, and school finances, while recruiting and forming new generations of effective Catholic school leaders.
Since 2006, Sr. Kathleen has been the Interim Superintendent of Schools for the Archdiocese of Boston. From 1991 – 2000 she also served as District Superintendent for the Staten Island Catholic Schools.
Sister Kathleen holds a professional diploma in Educational Administration and Church Leadership from Manhattan College, a Masters of Science in Special Education from the College of New Rochelle, and a Bachelor of Arts in History from the College of Mount St. Vincent. She has pursued post graduate studies in Education and Administration at Manhattan College and Fordham University.
Sister is a consecrated religious and a member of the Congregation of Notre Dame, whose provincial house is located in Wilton, Connecticut.
Superintendent Dale R. Hoyt stated, “I am delighted to have Sr. Kathleen Fitz Simons join my staff. She will bring enthusiasm and a familiarity with the ministry of Catholic school education”.
Sr. Kathleen Fitz Simons, CND will be replacing Sr. Loretta Francis Mann, OSF who will retire from the Office of Catholic Schools, after thirty successful years of service in the Archdiocese of Hartford. |
